Our latest project is  2 bedroom new build  in Oxford.

During the excavation stage, we discovered a mains sewer pipe in the middle of the building, serving the whole street.

We had to find a solution, without re-routing the mains sewer pipe and thankfully found an innovative solution to build over.

Together with the structural engineer we manufactured 4 concrete beams, to rest on 8 pad stones instead of the traditional concrete foundations, allowing us to build over the pipe.

Getting the beams on site and resting on the pads was tricky, to say the least, but we managed and foundations works are well on their way; using a block and beam system.

This has been an excellent learning opportunity to our two apprentices and although we never wish any unforeseen complications, it’s great to come up with solutions and let the youngsters to be part of this process.

More updates soon….
